Managing Tasks

The All Tasks page displays information related to the submitted tasks organized into various rows and columns. By default, this page displays only the File column that contains the name of the scheduled files. You can click the file name to get a comprehensive task report for the selected task. 
Additionally, on hovering the mouse over a file name, ICS - CAPTIONS displays:
Path of the file location
icon: To copy the task id to the clipboard
icon: To copy the file path to the clipboard
The following screenshot captures the All Tasks page icons and buttons, with their usage.

  1. Performance Metrics: Display performance analysis report of ICS CAPTIONS based on processing time, queue time, and task analysis. For more details, refer Viewing Performance Metrics.
  2. Administrative Actions: Perform different administrative actions. For more details, refer Performing Administrative Actions.
  3. Configure Columns: Customize the available columns that will be displayed on the All Tasks page.
  4. Configure Default Filters: Arrange the default filters’ tabs displayed under the TASKS menu.  The task list of the selected filters is displayed in tabs next to the All Tasks tab. For more details, refer Configuring Default Filters.
  5. Filter: Display the information available on the TASKS menu with various filters, such as source folder, file path, scheme, workflow, stage, etc. For more details, refer Creating And Applying Filters. For more details, refer Applying Task Filters.
  6. Quick Filters: Display a summary of quick filters. ICS CAPTIONS filters tasks based on the selected task status or task result. 
  7. Change Priority: Change the priority levels of a task while submitting or re-submitting tasks. For more details, refer Specify Task Priority Level.
Change priority is only applicable when the task is in queue. 
8. Submit Again: Re-submit a task for either with the same properties or with different properties, if required. For more details, refer Re-Submitting Tasks.
9. Delete: Remove or abort any task that is submitted. For more details, refer Deleting/Aborting Submitted Tasks.

Administrative Actions

ICS CAPTIONS provides various administrative actions to perform the following administrative tasks in one go:

The Administrative actions option is available only for Enterprise users.
Steps to perform administrative actions:
  1. On main menu page, click TASKS.
    The All Tasks page opens, displaying the list of all submitted tasks.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, click  icon. 
  3. Select the required option from the list.
    A confirmation dialog box appears.
  4. Click Yes.
    The selected changes are reflected in the task list.

Configuring Default Filters

ICS CAPTIONS allows you to configure the default filters' tabs displayed under the TASKS menu. The task list of the selected filters are displayed in tabs next to the All Tasks tab.
Steps to configure default filter tabs:
  1. At top right corner of the TASKS page, click the Configure default Filters icon  .
    The Configure Tabs window pops up.

  2. Under Available Filters, you can see a list of filters that are not currently selected to be displayed. 
  3. Under Current Filters, you can see a list of filters that will be displayed on the TASK page as a separate tab.
  4. Drag and drop the filters between Available Filters and Current Filters pane, as required.
  5. Click Apply.

Specifying Task Priority Level

ICS-CAPTIONS enables you to change the priority level of a task while submitting or re-submitting for verification. The priority of a task can be any of the following levels: 
TOP > IMMEDIATE > URGENT > HIGH > NORMAL > LOW 
Among these available priority levels, TOP depicts the highest priority and LOW depicts the lowest priority level. The task with the higher priority always gets processed before all the other tasks with lower priority.
Change priority is only applicable when the task is in queue.
Steps to change the task priority:
  1. On the main menu, click TASKS.
    The All Tasks page opens with the list of all the tasks.
  2. Select a single or multiple task(s), whose priority you want to change.
  3. Click the up-arrow next to the Change Priority button.
    The list of priority levels pops-up. 
  4. From the list, select the required priority level.
    Task(s) is re-scheduled with the selected priority.

Re-Submitting Tasks

ICS-CAPTIONS lets you re-submit the tasks for verification either with the same properties or with different properties, if required. The properties that can be changed are task type, sidecar file path, scheme, and priority. As soon as you re-submit a task, the task is moved to the ready state.
Steps to re-submit a task:
  1. On the main menu, click TASKS.
  2. Navigate to the All Tasks page, which displays the list of all submitted tasks.
  3. Select a single or multiple task(s).
  4. At bottom right corner of the page, click Submit Again.
    Task(s) is re-submitted with the same properties.
Alternatively, you can click the up-arrow next to the Submit Again button and then select the Submit Again Using… option to re-submit a task with new properties.

Deleting/Aborting Submitted Tasks

ICS-CAPTIONS lets you delete or abort any selected task from the task list. By default, the Delete button is disabled. To enable, you need to select at least one task from the task list.
When a task is in progress, it cannot be deleted or aborted. You can delete a task only when the task is in the finished, aborted, or cancelled state. However, an Enterprise user can also abort a task when it is in the queue.
Steps to delete/abort a task:
  1. On the main menu, click TASKS.
    The All Tasks page opens, displaying the list of all submitted tasks.
  2. Select the task(s) you want to delete/abort.
  3. At the bottom right corner of the page, click Delete.
    The selected task gets deleted.
  4. Click the up-arrow next to the Delete button and select Abort to cancel a ready task.
