File Submission

File Submission

To perform various captions tasks, you can select the required files and folders from a registered content location or add a link/URL of a YouTube channel. You can then submit the selected files for QC and correction, captioning, recaptioning and subtitling. As soon as you submit a task, the task is moved to the ready state. You can re-submit a task either with same properties or with different properties, if required.
Additionally, while submitting a new task, ICS CAPTIONS provides an option to upload content files and folders from your system to a registered ICS storage.
There are two different ways to submit a media file, as mentioned below:
  1. Using the New Task button: With this option, you can submit tasks directly by selecting the New Task button from the main menu. In this scenario, you can select the task type first and then the required media files and task options.
  2. Using the FOLDERS tab: With this option, you need to go to the FOLDERS tab, first select the file(s), and then submit the task with the required task type and task options.
After submission, Captions executes the tasks based on the selected task type, content language, priority level, and some other settings. Captions lets you perform four different types of tasks as shown below:
Task TypeDescription
Check Captions QualityTo check quality of the captions w.r.t audio and auto correct the errors found
Create CaptionsTo transcribe audio and create captions from the audio. It is in same language as audio. With captioning, subtitles in foreign languages can also be created in the same task
Create SubtitlesTo create subtitles from existing captions files or audio. To create subtitles from audio, captioning task should be used which performs captioning first
Regenerate CaptionsTo convert captions parameters (frame rate, start time code etc.) to match different video deliveries

Steps to submit tasks:
  1. On the main menu, click the New Task.
The New Task window pops up.
Alternatively, on the main menu, click FOLDERS.
The Folder page opens displaying all the registered content locations.
    1. From left pane, navigate through the content location hierarchy and select the required folder.
    2. From the right pane, select the files or folders to submit.
    3. At bottom right corner, click Submit.
The Submit Task window pops up.
  2. Select the required task type and task options.
  3. Click Submit.
The selected file gets submitted for the task type and the All Tasks page opens with the list of all submitted tasks.
If you have logged in as a Regular user, an additional dialog appears for you displaying the billing details. Once you make the payment, the scheduled tasks are submitted automatically. For more information, refer to Managing Payments.
